Maybelline Dream Velvet Foundation

Maybelline has recently come out with Dream Velvet, its newest line of foundations and a custom designed blender to apply it called the Dream Blender. Dream Velvet is the brand’s first gel-whipped matte foundation formulated to hydrate the face for up to 12 hours to keep skin feeling fresh.

The folks over at Maybelline sent me the line to try out and upon application I noticed that it went on super smooth, with a velvety matte finish. The consistency to me was very light and fluffy and felt like somewhat of a gel-mousse hybrid. What I appreciated the most about it was that after a few hours of wear it didn’t dry out my skin or make my face look dull like some matte foundations tend to do. It has a medium coverage, so it’s good for daytime wear and covering imperfections without being too over the top. The only thing that stood out to me that may be an issue is that there are currently only 12 shades available, which means that there is a possibility that you won’t be able to find your perfect match. But at a price point of around $10, if you can find your shade or don’t mind mixing then it’s definitely worth checking out.

Have any of you tried the Dream Velvet foundation yet? What are your thoughts?

I’ve been wearing it for a week now and I like it. It’s smooth like you stated and it doesn’t make your face feel heavy or cakey!

I watched your video and the application seemed to be very smooth. You have great skin already and I love how the foundation didn’t look like foundation; it looked like skin.

The Dream Blender was definitely unique in shape. How does it work? Is it “spongey”; does it retract? I didn’t see how flexible the blender was but it made your application appear flawless!! Thanks for providing your review! I am a huge fan of the Maybelline FitMe foundation line so I cannot wait to give the Dream Velvet a try!! ❤️
