I plan to do quite a bit of traveling this year, and last week I kicked it off with South Florida. It’s been years since I’ve been to Miami, so I was really excited to go and find new gems. January is the perfect time to visit as well- while a large part of the country is riddled with frigid temps and dreadful weather, Miami is an inviting oasis where one can soak up the sun and stroll along the beach in cut-off shorts with a margarita in hand.
Here are a few places I visited this time around that I would definitely recommend:

If you are looking for the perfect weekend brunch, then you have to visit Peacock Garden Cafe. Located in Coconut Grove, it’s very unassuming from the street, but once inside it’s like walking into a magical garden party. The setting is absolutely charming and the ambiance is very relaxing. I’m big on presentation, so I was immediately pleased. Service was great and my apple compote topped pecan waffle and spiked basil lemonade were delicious. Whenever I return to Miami, I will be going back for sure!

If you’re feeling fancy, check out Bal Harbour Shops. It’s a one stop shop for all things luxe, featuring stores like Balenciaga, Chanel, Miu Miu, Jimmy Choo and the like, anchored by department stores Neiman Marcus and Saks Fifth Avenue. The open-air space is gorgeous with tropical touches all over- lush landscape, waterfalls, and ponds filled with brightly colored fish all throughout. I almost felt like I was in a designer rain forest! The customer service was also good -the sales associates of every store I walked into seemed helpful and friendly. It’s a great place to window shop, people watch and have lunch or to treat yourself to something nice!

The News Lounge is the perfect place to meet up with friends, throw back a few drinks and vibe to some good tunes. I went on a Friday night and the crowd was diverse and laid back. The DJ spun a wide range of music- some throwback hits, some house music, a little current. I wasn’t mad at it at all. The vibrant outside patio area is super cute with pool tables, cozy couches, swing chairs and table seating. The vibe is hip and trendy, but not stuffy. Drinks are tasty, reasonably priced, and pack a punch! Order some tapas or appetizers if you feel like snacking. Good place for a casual night out.
Want a change from the Miami Beach club scene, but still want to partake in some hard party action? In comes Seminole Hard Rock. A half hour drive to Hollywood is all it takes to get in on all the fun. The party never stops here, and there is so much to do that you will stay entertained. The Seminole Paradise area houses several night clubs and bars so you can easily bar hop, dance and drink the night away. Come here for a lively Vegas-esque experience!
